Angelina Jolie demonstrates that she can make a mindless action film just like the boys can. Salt is packed with great action and a silly plot that exhausts your willingness to suspend your disblief. Salt is a summer movie staple kind of film.

The movie is selling itself as a smart film but it really isn't. There are far too many silly coincidences, impossible lucky moments, and an evil plot that's been brewing for so long and relies on so many coorindated details that you just can't buy it. This is the kind of movie where the heroine shoots everyone she comes across but gets fired at with hail after hail of bullets and barely gets scratched. She is able to leap from car to speeding car, survive all sorts of violent attacks and literally "saves the world" against the minacle mustash twirlling villians. Salt is too salty.

Yes you will be rolling your eyes but you'll also be oooing and ahing at the stunts. Salt could have been more fun if the script wasn't so silly, but it isn't a terrible way to waste a couple hours if you can turn your brain off enough.

I believe we have come to the point where boys can root for the female aciton hero and not just see her as a sex object. Certainly it does help that she looks like Angelina but the boy action heroes have always been eye candy too so is that really any different?

The movie tries to pull the rug out from underneath you a couple times but any discerning audience member should see the twists coming in advance. Salt is strictly mindless fun. Go in with low expectations and just enjoy the ride.
