Batman Under the Red Hood - One of the Best Batman Movies  
| I was surprised while watching Batman: Under the Red Hood because the film is really good enough to rank with the best Batman live action films. This adaptation of a number of (somewhat controversial) Batman stories from the comics, manages to be better than most of the mainstream Bat-stories told on the big screen. The writing and staging is excellent. The drama is palpable. The action is amazing.
To capture this amount of pathos and action and balance them well is what live action movies often try and fail at. To see this in a direct to video animated movie is refreshing. I wasn't sure about these story lines when they were in print but here they just come together so well. The story really works.
I guess Nolan isn't the only one who can make a great Batman movie. He is famous for having allegedly said that his Batman films will not have Robin in them. Batman: Under the Red Hood shows us that's too bad. This is the way to tell a Robin story. It will break your heart.
Once again Bruce Timm and his crew have made another excellent film. Are they in danger of giving Pixar a run for their money? Batman fans sure have a lot to celebrate.
