I am not a raving Tarantino fan. To be honest.... I kinda think he's not right in the head. I mean Pulp Fiction was good. I slept through Resevoir Dogs (twice) and Jackie Brown... can't remember a thing. Not memorable = not that good.

And as for that freakfest he partnered with that sleezabag, cheater Rodriguez - gross. A woman with a machine gun for a leg - not right in the head.

But the boyfriend loves him some Quentin and so off we went.

It starts with the whole "Chapter One" and I almost got up and left. His movies, in my opinion, are usually too long and I was picturing my soon-to-be full bladder rupturing at Chapter 41.

But Quentin reigned it in this time around. On all levels.

The violence is... violent and gory, but not gratuitous. Pitt with a hillbillie accent is so enjoyable you almost forget what a child-collecting weirdo he's become.

Also the plot moves swiftly and memorably and there are beautiful balances of tension and humor. Melanie Laurent as Shoshanna is a gem. No idea where she's come from but I hope she gets major work after this. She was fantastic!

The only thing that bums me out about this flick is that I'm pretty sure that the Academy won't give Christoph Waltz an Oscar for playing a Nazi. But so far this year, his performance is the only one that deserves one!
