Sometimes it can be amazing how bad a film can be. When one considers the amount of people involved in producing a film as well as the amount of time and money that is invested in the process it is shocking that a film this bad can be produced and see the light of day.

This religious themed horror film about angels turning on humanity is one schlocky cliche, one cheap-assed visual effect and one groaner line after another. Legion's idea of scary is to morph human characters into grotesque shapes before they are gunned down. I know, it doesn't really send a shiver down your spine does it? And does the film explain why angels attacking the world would take this form? Not that I saw but maybe I missed that segment as I fell asleep from utter boredom.

I think Legion was trying to go for some sort of From Dusk Til Dawn meets Wings of Desire vibe, but doesn't manage to achieve even the Rodriguez film let alone the Wenders one. It doesn't make any sense and often feels like it is just an excuse for (try hard) socking images. Why would an angel, tasked with exterminating humanity, first shoot off a round of expletives and obscenities? Who writes this crap? Did they even go to college?

I saw this film after seeing another B-movie with religious themes, The Book of Eli which I actually kind of enjoyed for what it was. One of the things that I appreciated about that film was the theology, the movie's interpretation of divine love. Legion on the other hand is a fire and brimstone kind of theology. It's for the big tent revival set. I personally don't get that kind of crazy and have no interest in it.
